Houndshill opens at 93 per cent let

Modus opened its newly-extended Houndshill shopping centre in Blackpool last month, tripling the size of the existing scheme to 398,000 sq ft.
The £60m extension is anchored by Debenhams and features a wide variety of major retailers including tenants new to Blackpool such as H&M, Zavvi, River Island and Jane Norman. Boots and New Look have also taken the opportunity to increase the size of their units, with New Look doubling the size of its store. The 63-unit centre (23 units of which are brand new) opened 93 per cent let and with six more retailers, including two big high street names, currently in legals, that will leave just two voids. Meanwhile the exchanging of contracts with O'Briens, Le Petit Four Francais and Thaina Noodle Bar, has resulted in a fully let food deck.
Nigel Poad, leasing director at Modus said: "The overall food offer in Houndshill also comprises Starbucks and Costa Coffee as well as a Debenhams first floor restaurant which over looks the stunning new mall."
Clare Andrews, director of Modus, added: "What we are really pleased about is the footfall which is averaging 400,000 a week, which is really good." More than 55,000 shoppers flocked to the opening on August 21 alone.
Modus is also planning a further phase in Blackpool, close to Blackpool Tower, which will include a new restaurant quarter and further retail.
Houndshill letting agents are Savills, Lunson Mitchenall and Keenan & Co.
