Daisy Dog's a winner

An unusual pet bakery business has been selected as Britain's best new retail concept in the Make Your Mark competition sponsored by The Mall and RBS.
Daisy's Dog Deli is the brainchild of Lisa Gosling, and it sells healthy freshly-baked pet treats. The judging panel - including former Apprentice winner Tim Campbell, Mall chief executive Ken Ford, Harry Rich of Make Your Mark and Matthew Smith, director of business development at Natwest and RBS Business Banking - selected Lisa's concept from 140 entries from all over the country. Her prize is six months' free trade in her local mall, a business mentor from RBS, and a place at the Retail Summer School at Keble College, Oxford.
She said: "I started Daisy's Dog Deli because dogs and food are my passion and I saw a gap in the ever expanding pet market for wholesome, healthy treats and food. So I went for it."
Ken Ford added: "Lisa tapped into a gap in the market and carved a real niche for herself, which was demonstrated by her great sales figures and customer comments."
