Haslam heads for the high seas - for charity
Published: 21 April, 2008
Spare a thought for Sue Haslam, director in the facilities and property management department at Legat Owen, as she sets out on the voyage of a lifetime from Santa Cruz in California.
Sue is working her passage on the racing yacht Liverpool 08, which is taking part in the Clipper Round the World 07/08 Yacht Race. She is raising money for the Countess of Chester Hospital Breast Care Unit and the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.
"My leg takes me through the Pacific, up the Panama Canal and on to Jamaica," she explains. "The fleet goes from there on the last leg and is due back at Albert Dock, Liverpool, on 5 July 2008.
"All my partners and staff at Legat Owen are giving me huge support, as well as all my staff at The Forum Chester, Spinning Gate, Leigh, and Deiniol shopping centre Bangor - I think they've decided that I really am crazy."
