Mulryan and Kelly start battle of Bray

The developers behind two of the biggest schemes ever planned in Ireland, both located in Co. Wicklow, are busy objecting to each other's plans.
In one corner stands the €2 bn Pizarro scheme being planned for Bray by a consortium that includes Paddy Kelly and his family; the McCormack family's Alanis development company; the Flynn family; Durkan New Homes, Pierse Construction and the Newlyn family. The scheme is currently undergoing substantial revisions and the consortium hopes that these will ensure approval from An Bord Pleanala.
If the scheme does get the green light, it's unlikely to be completed before 2012.
In the other corner is the €1.5bn Charlesland scheme being planned for Greystones, just south of Bray, by Zapi Properties, which is jointly owned by billionaire property developers Sean Mulryan and Sean Dunne. They want to develop 1.7m sq m of residential, commercial and community space, including a new shopping centre, with 20,000 sq m of retail space, 16,000 sq m of retail warehousing and 11,500 sq m of motor showrooms.
Wicklow County Council recently approved the scheme, but the Charlesland plans have now been appealed by the Pizarro consortium. In turn, Sean Mulryran and Sean Dunne have lodged an appeal against the Pizzaro development.
