Turner goes to Liverpool

Whether it's transvestite potters, inside-out houses or pickled sharks, the Turner Prize for contemporary art never fails to garner acres of news coverage. This year the event is sponsored by retail developer Milligan.

Milligan's Metquarter development is already one of the most visible signs of the renaissance and regeneration of Liverpool city centre and the sponsorship is part of Milligan's continuing support of Liverpool, which will be the European Capital of Culture in 2008.

John Milligan said: "I 'm delighted that we're sponsoring the Turner Prize because it reflects a real interest that the Milligan team have in art, and we're always interested in exploring the links between design, art and fashion and how we can create relationships between these things to reach out to people."
