The Secretary of State's office has confirmed the Compulsory Purchase Order that will enable the delivery of the Park Place retail development in Croydon, south London.
Developers Minerva and Lend Lease plan a 900,000-sq ft retail and leisure scheme including a new full line department store, potentially for John Lewis, as well as 14 major space users and over 120 speciality retail shops and restaurants. Construction is expected to start in early 2008 with completion in 2011.
Mark Boyes, Lend Lease's senior development manager for Park Place, said: "We are delighted the Secretary of State has given us the go ahead for this much needed development which will be the catalyst for the regeneration of the town centre and we look forward to working in partnership with the development stakeholders to deliver a contemporary shopping experience for the people of Croydon."
