SpongeBob's surprise visit

The Trafford Centre brought smiles to the patients of Trafford General Hospital's children's ward when it organised a surprise visit from kids' favourite, SpongeBob SquarePants.
The cult star turned up in person at Ward 23 to perform a selection of his songs for the delighted children. He was also able to present them with enough toys, donated by the centre's tenants, to fill a people carrier.
SpongeBob, who was joined by one of the centre's legendary 'meeters and greeters' Neville Pritchard, then returned to The Trafford Centre to entertain the masses on stage with a variety of other top celebrities for the Christmas Lights Switch On.
Director of operations at The Trafford Centre Gordon McKinnon said: "When we found out that the children would not be able to make it to the Switch On, we decided to take some of the action to them. The Switch On is always such a delightful night for all the family, but the fact that there were children who would have loved to have been there but simply couldn't make it seemed terribly unfair."
