'Mini moos' at the Gyle

The Gyle shopping centre has gone cow mad after joining up with four primary schools in Edinburgh to support the capital's highly successful Cowparade.
The centre asked budding artists from the schools to decorate four 'mini moos', which featured in the parade, before they handed them back to the schools that created them. And to mark the 'mini moo' handover, the centre has also sponsored two real 'mini moos', who found a new home in the city during the parade.
Adopted by Gyle on behalf of the four primary schools, Bambi and Summer, two real calves, were brought to Georgie City Farm to be adopted by nine-year-old Jersey cow Bunty.
Ian Ferguson, centre manager of Gyle shopping centre, said: "The Cowparade was a real community project and it was fantastic to see our schools getting involved and making the 'mini moos' unique."
The sponsorship of the calves also provided each class with a certificate and gave all the children the opportunity to visit the animals during the year. The monies from the sponsorship will help the city farm buy food for the cows and pay any vets' bills.
