Curves are back at Lakeside

London Fashion Week may have refused to bow to pressure to ban 'size zero' models from its runways, but plenty of others are opting for a healthier image.

The mayor of Madrid famously decided to ban models with a body mass index of under 18 from the city's fashion shows and now Lakeside in Thurrock is joining the movement by banning stick-thin models from its autumn/winter fashions shows this month.

Clare Lamont, Lakeside's marketing manager, said: "Lakeside and our show organisers, Classique Event Management, are committed to setting a responsible example to young women and girls who visit the show.

"This decision has been reached following feedback from our shoppers who want to see 'real' women modelling the clothes they may want to buy."
