Geared up at St Johns

The cameras were in Liverpool last month when the BBC's Top Gear crew filmed another of the famous man-against-machine challenges for the next series of the show.

Presenter James May had been set the challenge of driving a Peugot 207 from the roof of the St Johns Centre car park to the Liver Building in less time than it would take two Free Runners to cover the same distance.

May - Captain Slow to the show's millions of viewers - was under orders to complete the challenge driving legally through the city. On the other hand the Free Runners, John Kerr from London and Daniel Ilabaca from the Wirral, were allowed to use any route they wanted.

The level of danger they were willing to go to was clearly evident when they ran across the roof of the shopping centre after jumping 30 feet from the car park.

If you want to see how the challenge ended tune into the new series later in the year.
