Birmingham has become the first city in the UK to introduce a city-wide Child Safe Zone by bringing together the Bullring, the Pallasades and the Pavilions shopping centres as well as the markets and the surrounding shopping streets.
Jonathan Cheetham, chair of Birmingham City Centre Partnership said: "Child Safe has been operating successfully in 40 shopping centres across the country so we are delighted to be the first city centre in the UK to introduce the scheme city wide to include retailers in major shopping streets as well as indoor retail centres.
"The scheme gives shoppers peace of mind and reassures them that if their child gets lost this service can assist in finding them quickly".
Richard Manville, director and co-founder of Child Safe said that if the Birminagham scheme proves successful he will be looking to roll out more city-wide initiatives elsewhere.
